New Freedom Farm held its first “Spring Fling” Saturday in Buchanan. The daylong event attracted upwards of 250 visitors, owner Lois Fritz said. There were pony rides, a petting zoo, raffles, children’s activities, vendors, music and Obstacle Trail demonstrations. The event also included a groundbreaking for the pavilion in honor of Vietnam Veteran Thomas C. Andreasen and a building dedication in honor and support of Steve Goodwin. World War II veteran Carlos Showalter was a special guest. Volunteers Elizabeth Grandy, Vicky Bromwell, Carol Bernstein and Barbara Goodwin pose for a picture. Three Nation’s Capital Girl Scout Troops were on hand hand for the flag raising ceremony. New Freedom Farm in a non-profit dedicated to helping veterans.
