Eagle Rock Clothes Closet

The Clothes Closet at Eagle Rock United Methodist Church will be open Saturday, May 6, from 9 a.m. to noon and Wednesday, May 10, from 5-6:30 p.m. Free clothing will be available to men, women and children. Zion Hill plant/yard sale Saturday

Zion Hill Baptist will be having its annual Relay for Life yard sale/plant sale this Saturday, May 6 at the VFW building starting at 8 a.m .(no early sales). There will be breakfast available for purchase as well as homemade baked items.

 

Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Shop

The thrift shop has a large selection of spring and summer clothes for the entire family; also shoes for everyone. Women’s shorts and capri pants are just $1. The shop is open each Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

 

Month-long sale at Solomon’s Mission

Solomon’s Mission in Buchanan, as a thank you to the community for its support, will have a sale the whole month of May– buy one bag of clothing get one free.

It is open every Monday and Saturday, 9 a.m.-noon.

 

Fundraiser May 6 in Troutville

Troutville Assembly of God will have a yard sale and bake sale from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 6. Sausage biscuits and coffee will be available for breakfast; and hot dogs, chips and drinks for lunch. This is a fundraiser for Vacation Bible School. The church is at 188 Conner Lane; from Troutville, Rt. 11 to Stoney Battery Road to Conner Lane.

 

Galatia hosting community meal

The Community Fellowship Meal will be served on Monday, May 8 at 12 noon at Galatia Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 78 Gala Loop Road, Eagle Rock. The meal will be provided by members of Galatia and reservations are not required.”

Mowing season is here and donations for the maintenance of the Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery are welcome. Donations may be sent to Andrew Chapel Cemetery Fund at P.O. Box 998, Buchanan, 24066. No contribution is too small and all are greatly appreciated.

 

LuLaRoe fundraiser at Wheatland

There will be a LuLaRoe fundraiser for Youth Ministry at Wheatland Lutheran Church (1560 Wheatland Road, Buchanan) on Saturday, May 13 from 3-5 p.m. LuLaRoe is a modern line of girls and women’s clothing with sizes ranging from kids 2T-14 and women’s XXS to 3XL.

The clothing comes in a variety of different fabrics, prints, and styles There will be over 1,500 pieces available to try on, purchase and take home that day–several styles of dresses, skirts, shirts, and the buttery soft leggings. A portion of each sale will go toward the youth attending the 2018 ELCA Youth Gathering in Houston, Texas.

 

Fincastle UMC chicken barbecue

Fincastle United Methodist Church will have a chicken barbecue dinner Saturday, May 13. It will be held from 4-7 p.m. at the VFW Hall, 4902 Roanoke Road, Daleville.

The menu is half a barbecued chicken with Percy Bolton’s special sauce, homemade potato salad, baked apples, roll and drink. Homemade desserts will be available for purchase. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance by calling 473-2969.

The monthly Northern Botetourt Hymn Sing will be at Galatia Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 78 Gala Loop Road, Eagle Rock, on Sunday, May 14 at 7 p.m.

Everyone is invited to come for a time of sharing in songs and hymns followed by a time of refreshments and fellowship.”

 

Sharing God’s Grace meets

May 16

Bingo will be the program for the May meeting of Sharing God’s Grace at Wheatland Lutheran Church.

The meeting will begin at noon on Tuesday, May 16 with lunch served by the ladies of the church. Bingo will follow lunch and small prizes will be awarded to the winning cards.

The community is invited to enjoy a few hours of fellowship, good food, and an entertaining game of bingo.
